On Thursday, November 19th the SES Executive team of Bill Mecklenburg, Shaun Shenouda and Fran Babicz will be sleeping on the streets of Los Angeles, so kids don’t have to. Bill has participated in this event since its inception and it is always one of the most meaningful nights of the year. The reality is that this is a very small gesture given the realities of so many of our youth, but it is a way to demonstrate solidarity with those that have come across difficult times at a very early age and to let them know that we are here to support them and give them the tools and encouragement to overcome what might appear to be insurmountable obstacles. Over the last year few years, you were extremely generous in supporting Covenant House, and we hope you will consider doing so again. It’s shocking and unbearably sad: hundreds of thousands of kids in the United States are currently homeless, with a large population as a result of “aging out” of the foster care system. Kids are trying to survive every day with no place to go, no food to eat, and no one to turn to. The nights are much worse than the days - colder, scarier and lonelier with the inescapable feeling of being “thrown away.” Fortunately there are organizations such as Covenant House that are doing amazing work to support homeless youth and give them the skills, training and shelter necessary for an independent and sustainable life. To make a difference we are participating in The Sleep Out: Executive Edition, a unique event that will raise money and awareness for Covenant House California’s services for homeless youth. With other business and community leaders, we will spend the night of Thursday, Nov. 19th sleeping “on the street”, so that kids don’t have to. On November 19th, Covenant House sites across North America will host a “Sleep Out”; hundreds of top-level executives and community notables will sleep on the streets, in solidarity with youth who are homeless. We are writing to ask for your support. Please help SES Insurance and our SES Team be part of the solution by donating to our sleep out at any of the links below:
